The 2026 Print Swap Exhibition

The 2026 Print Swap Exhibition showcases works from Little Death’s annual mail art project, an international community building event that invites artists around the world to discover and connect across mediums, backgrounds, languages, and locations. This is the first ever exhibition of this project, now in its third year. In conjunction with the opening reception, a small publication, Let Sleeping Birds Fly or The Auguraculum, will be released, featuring a curated selection of works from this years’ swap submissions.

The Print Swap, originally started by artists Jake Benzinger and Katia Dermott, is now organized by Little Death, an online and pop-up curatorial space run by artists Micah Sanders and Katia Dermott. The Print Swap first began out of what the organizers feel is a globally shared desire to find community in a time when that is made difficult. Artists are seeking out ways to find and share art with each other, away from a screen, without being pay-to-play, and without a jury deciding what is and is not worth being seen. 

By organizing an exhibition this year, Little Death is working to bring the Print Swap into a shared, physical space where that sense of community, being built through the mail and in individual homes and studios around the world, can be woven into one place together here in Maine. The exhibition follows the same ethos of the Print Swap itself: non-juried and open to any swap participant who wants to be involved. The exhibition features 180 artists– just over 70% of total swap participants. Of the 21 countries that participated this year, 13 are represented in the exhibition, including: Australia, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Ghana, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, and the United States.

This year’s exhibition is hosted by 82Parris and organized by Little Death with support from Paper Tides print shop.
